Multipoint

Multipoint means that you can connect more than one phone to a Bluetooth device at the same time.

The following BlueAnt devices support multipoint connections. This section explains how multipoint works on these devices. Select your device to learn how multipoint works.

Multipoint on the BlueAnt Q1

When you have two phones connected to the BlueAnt Q1:

  • If a call comes in on either of your connected phones, then you can answer the call on your Q1.
  • When you have two phones connected to the Q1, the first one that connected is designated the primary phone. If you initiate a call through the Q1 (for example by using one of the Q1's voice commands) it will happen on this phone.
  • The Q1 supports true multipoint: this means that both phones remain connected during an active call. If you receive a call while you are on an active call on the other phone then you can use the Q1 buttons to put the current call on hold and switch to the new call. Just hold down the "Vol +" button for 1 second. You can also use this button to switch back to the first call again.

Please note that if the "first connected phone" goes out of range of the Q1 and then comes back into range, it will no longer be the first connected phone. Any future calls you initiate through the Q1 will now be made on the other phone.

Remember that for some calling commands, the phone number called depends on the phone used. For example, the "Redial" command uses the number of the last incoming call stored on the phone, and so it will call a different number depending on which phone is used for the call.

Multipoint on the BlueAnt Q2

When you have two phones connected to the BlueAnt Q2:

  • If a call comes in on either of your connected phones, then you can answer the call on your Q2.
  • When you have two phones connected to the Q2, the first one that connected is designated the primary phone. If you initiate a call through the Q2 (for example by using Phone Commands to activate the voice dial function on your phone) it will happen on the primary phone.
  • The Q2 supports true multipoint: this means that both phones remain connected during an active call. If you receive a call while you are on an active call on the other phone then you can use the Q2 buttons to put the current call on hold and switch to the new call. Just hold down the "Vol +" button for 1 second. You can also use this button to switch back to the first call again.

Please note that if the "first connected phone" goes out of range of the Q2 and then comes back into range, it will no longer be the first connected phone. Any future calls you initiate through the Q2 will now be made on the other phone.

Multipoint on the BlueAnt T1

When you have two phones connected to the BlueAnt T1:

  • If a call comes in on either of your connected phones, then you can answer the call on your T1.
  • When you have two phones connected to the T1, the first one that connected is designated the primary phone. If you initiate a call through the T1 (for example by using Phone Commands to activate the voice dial function on your phone) it will happen on the primary phone.
  • The T1 supports true multipoint: this means that both phones remain connected during an active call. If you receive a call while you are on an active call on the other phone then you can use the T1 buttons to put the current call on hold and switch to the new call. Just hold down the "Vol +" button for 1 second. You can also use this button to switch back to the first call again.

Please note that if the "first connected phone" goes out of range of the T1 and then comes back into range, it will no longer be the first connected phone. Any future calls you initiate through the T1 will now be made on the other phone.

Multipoint on the BlueAnt Z9i

When you have two phones connected to the BlueAnt Z9i:

  • If a call comes in on either of your connected phones, then you can answer the call on your Z9i by clicking the BlueAnt button.
  • When you have two phones connected to the Z9i, the first one that connected is designated the primary phone. If you initiate a call through the Z9i (for example by holding down the "Vol +" button for 3 seconds to redial) it will happen on this phone.

Please note that if the "first connected phone" goes out of range of the Z9i and then comes back into range, it will no longer be the first connected phone. Any future calls you initiate through the Z9i will now be made on the other phone.

Remember that the phone number called when you use the Z9i to redial is the number of the last incoming call stored on the phone, and so it will call a different number depending on which phone is used for the call.

Multipoint on the BlueAnt S1

When you have two phones connected to the BlueAnt S1:

  • If a call comes in on either of your connected phones, then you can answer the call on your S1.
  • If you initiate a call through the S1 (by using the green Multi-Function button to either redial the last call or use your phone's voice dial feature), then the call will happen on whichever phone is currently designated the primary phone. The primary phone is either the phone that connected to the S1 most recently or the phone that had the last active call.
  • When your phones connect to the S1, the one that connects last becomes the primary.
  • Every time you have an active call through the S1 (incoming or outgoing), the phone with the call becomes the primary phone.
  • If both phones go out of range and come back into range together then the primary phone will be whichever one happens to reconnect last out of the two. In this case you will not be able to tell which phone is the primary until you either initiate a call through the S1 or receive a call on one of the phones.

Multipoint on the BlueAnt S1 with 2 Nokia Phones

Some users have reported that they are experiencing problems connecting two Nokia phones to the S1 at the same time using multipoint.

If you are using multiple Nokia phones and are unable to connect them both to the S1 at the same time, we recommend that you turn off the keypad tones on one of the Nokia phones.

For example, on the Nokia N95 open the main menu, navigate to Settings, General, Personalisation, and then Tones. Scroll down to Keypad Tones and change this setting to Off.

Once you have turned off the tones, reconnect the Nokia phones to the S1.
